Prime Minister Netanyahu: 60 Minutes Features Major Interview on Iran’s Nuclear Threat

CBS News’ “60 Minutes” is preparing to air one of its most closely watched international interviews of the year as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sits down with correspondent Major Garrett amid the ongoing conflict involving Iran and growing fears about regional instability.
The interview, scheduled for Sunday, May 10, 2026, comes at a critical moment in the Middle East. In preview footage released ahead of the broadcast, Netanyahu makes clear that Israel does not believe the conflict has reached its conclusion, warning that Iran’s highly enriched uranium stockpile remains a major unresolved issue.
“It’s not over,” Netanyahu says in excerpts released before the episode aired, emphasizing that uranium enrichment facilities and nuclear material inside Iran continue to pose what Israel considers a serious security threat.
The appearance marks Netanyahu’s first U.S. broadcast television interview since the latest phase of the Iran conflict escalated and is expected to focus heavily on military operations, nuclear concerns, diplomacy, and the increasingly complex relationship between Israel and the United States.

Netanyahu Warns Iran’s Nuclear Threat Remains
At the center of Netanyahu’s comments is Iran’s highly enriched uranium, commonly referred to as HEU, which has become one of the defining issues in the ongoing war.
Israeli leaders have argued for years that Iran’s uranium enrichment program represents an existential danger to Israel. International monitoring agencies and Western intelligence officials have repeatedly expressed concern over the amount of enriched uranium Iran possesses and the speed at which its nuclear capabilities could potentially advance.
Recent “60 Minutes” reporting highlighted fears that Iran may have enough highly enriched uranium to produce multiple nuclear weapons if the material were further refined. The program previously examined covert operations and military scenarios tied to securing or removing nuclear material from hostile states.
Netanyahu’s latest remarks suggest Israel believes military strikes alone may not fully eliminate the threat if enriched uranium remains inside Iran. In excerpts from the interview, Netanyahu discusses the possibility of physically removing the material under the terms of a future agreement, while avoiding detailed discussion about military planning.
The comments reflect the broader strategic debate currently unfolding among Israel, the United States, and international allies over what would constitute a lasting resolution to the conflict.
The Conflict’s Growing International Impact
The interview arrives during one of the most volatile periods in Middle Eastern geopolitics in recent memory.
The conflict involving Iran has expanded far beyond isolated military exchanges. Reports over recent months have detailed Israeli and U.S. strikes targeting Iranian nuclear and military infrastructure, retaliatory attacks by Iran and allied groups, and growing fears of disruptions throughout the Gulf region and the Strait of Hormuz.
Global markets and international governments have closely monitored developments as concerns rise about oil supply disruptions, broader regional warfare, and the humanitarian consequences of continued fighting.
At the same time, diplomatic negotiations have remained active behind the scenes. Reports indicate that various proposals involving sanctions relief, uranium restrictions, and ceasefire agreements have been discussed through international mediators, though disagreements continue over Iran’s nuclear program and the future of enrichment activities.
Netanyahu’s appearance on “60 Minutes” is therefore expected to carry significant international attention because it may provide new insight into Israel’s long-term military objectives and the current status of discussions with the Trump administration.
Inside the U.S.-Israel Relationship During the War
Another major focus of the interview is expected to involve Netanyahu’s relationship with President Donald Trump and the coordination between Israel and the United States during the conflict.
According to CBS News’ preview materials, Netanyahu discusses conversations that took place inside the White House Situation Room before President Trump authorized strikes against Iran. The interview may shed light on how Israeli officials attempted to persuade the United States to support military action and how decisions were made during some of the conflict’s most critical moments.
Reports throughout 2026 have described intense discussions between Israeli and American leaders over both diplomacy and military escalation. Some reports suggest there have been disagreements between Washington and Jerusalem regarding strategy, ceasefire negotiations, and the broader goals of the campaign.
Despite occasional signs of tension, Netanyahu has continued to publicly praise Trump’s support while insisting that Israel’s security concerns require decisive action against Iran’s nuclear infrastructure.
The interview could therefore offer viewers a rare glimpse into the private conversations shaping one of the world’s most consequential military alliances.
“60 Minutes” and Its Long History of Iran Coverage
The Iran crisis is not a new subject for “60 Minutes.” The CBS newsmagazine has covered Iran for decades, dating back to the 1970s during the reign of the Shah and continuing through the Islamic Revolution, hostage crisis, sanctions era, nuclear negotiations, and modern regional conflicts.
Over the years, the program has interviewed Iranian officials, American diplomats, intelligence experts, military leaders, and Israeli politicians connected to the region’s ongoing tensions.
This season alone, “60 Minutes” has devoted multiple reports to Iran’s nuclear capabilities and the growing military standoff in the Middle East. Recent segments explored the challenges involved in securing highly enriched uranium and the broader geopolitical risks surrounding Iran’s nuclear infrastructure.
That long-running focus has made Iran one of the program’s most revisited international topics, and the Netanyahu interview continues that tradition at a particularly consequential moment in world affairs.
Why the Interview Is Expected to Draw Major Attention
The upcoming broadcast is already generating significant interest because it arrives at a time when global uncertainty surrounding the Middle East remains extremely high.
Questions continue to surround the future of Iran’s nuclear program, the possibility of renewed military escalation, and the role the United States may continue to play in the region. Netanyahu’s comments are likely to be closely analyzed by political leaders, military experts, diplomats, and international observers around the world.
The interview also represents a rare extended television appearance by Netanyahu during an active international conflict. Throughout his political career, Netanyahu has frequently used American media interviews to explain Israel’s security position and influence international opinion regarding Iran and regional threats.
With the war still evolving and negotiations ongoing, the “60 Minutes” segment could become one of the defining political interviews of the current news cycle.
“60 Minutes” airs Sunday, May 10, 2026, at 7:00 PM ET/PT on CBS and streams on Paramount+.

How can an American TV network give so much time to a controversial leader like Netanyahu. He is bombing schools and apartments and doing it with US money and support. I am not pro Arabic or any other culture but this is not right
